Hope Restored for a Single Mother’s Family in Buyende District, Uganda
In Ndwedwe Village, Buyende District, lives Ms. Naiganga Flavia, a physically disabled single mother raising four children on her own. Life has not been easy for her since she lost her husband in 2016. With no stable source of income, she has been depending on small-scale farming to provide food for her family.
Among her children are Harriet Naiganga (11 years old), a Primary Five pupil, and her younger sister Sandra Nakiryowa (8 years old), in Primary Two. Before joining the TARF Uganda Sponsorship Program, the two girls often stayed home because their mother could not afford school fees or scholastic materials such as books, pens, and pencils. They sometimes reported to school late after holidays or missed entire school terms due to lack of support.
However, everything changed when Harriet and Sandra were enrolled under the TARF Uganda Sponsorship Program. The family’s hope for education was restored. Today, the girls receive all the essential scholastic materials before each new term begins. They also benefit from household support items such as soap, food supplies, and other basic needs, which have greatly improved their living conditions.
Harriet and Sandra now attend school regularly, full of joy and determination to pursue their dreams. Their mother expressed heartfelt appreciation to TARF Uganda and its partners for standing with her family during difficult times and for giving her daughters a chance to learn and build a brighter future
